Telomeres and Vitamin D

Telomeres and Vitamin D

Have you had your daily dose of Vitamin D to make your telomeres happy yet today?  Let’s hope so; or maybe now is time to be sure you make it a priority. It can be relatively hard to do in some places where the sun does not shine most of the winter months.  Thank goodness a healthy diet and supplements can help!

Vitamin D status may also give an indication of how our telomeres are doing. New evidence links higher blood levels of vitamin D with longer telomeres and greater longevity. We know of course that the best source of vitamin D comes to us direct from the sun. It is also found in fatty fish and fortified milk and juice products. Vitamin D3 can also be taken in supplement form. – Colorado 9 News
